How our broker matching works

The three steps

1. You tell us about your case

   What you're doing, the postcode, rough numbers, your income type, your credit position and how quickly you need to move. Nothing in the form is a credit check.

2. We match you to one broker

   We read the enquiry and pass it to the FCA-authorised broker on our panel who deals with that kind of case. Currently that is [Receiving broker firm name]. You are not put on a list, and your details are not sent to several firms to bid for.

3. The broker takes over

   They contact you, usually within one working day, to talk through your situation. From then on you are their client. They give the advice, source the mortgage, submit the application and deal with the lender. Any fee they charge is disclosed to you before you commit, and many brokers here charge nothing because the lender pays them.

How we're paid

The broker pays us a fee for the introduction. You never pay us anything, and the introduction fee does not change what you pay the broker or the lender. We say this plainly because it is the basis of the whole service.

What we are, and are not

We are not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority and we do not give mortgage advice. Nothing on this site is a recommendation to take any product. The broker we introduce you to is authorised and regulated by the FCA, which means their advice has to be suitable for you, and if something goes wrong you can complain to them and then to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

Your details

We keep a copy of your enquiry for 12 months so we can follow up if the broker cannot help, then delete it. We share it only with the broker named above, and with nobody else unless you ask us to or the law requires it. You can ask us to delete it sooner at any time. What if the broker can't help?

Occasionally a case falls outside what a broker can do. If that happens, tell us and we will look for a better fit on our panel or say honestly that we can't help. We would rather lose an enquiry than pass it somewhere it doesn't belong.
